About Integrated Manufacturing Technologies (IMT)
Since 1996, Pullbrite became IMT. Many felt that with Pullbrite gone, a gap was left in the service industry.
However, now IMT is one of the best suppliers and manufacturers of stainless steel weldments and gas delivery systems. At one point, IMT became the largest supplier to Lam Research and a key supplier to many in the High Vacuum and Semiconductor sector. The Electropolish division, for years, was regarded as one of the industry's best. Many Electropolish shops in the area expanded their capacity and facilities in anticipation that Pullbrite could not provide the same quality service that IMT had provided for so many years.
When IMT returned in November of '98, at lot had changed in the industry. It also took some of these start-ups by surprise. They never envisioned IMT to return. The Electropolish team, which stayed on through the Insync years, was intact. Soon, as IMT began to grow once again, many of the key personnel who made IMT successful in the late 80's and early 90's returned back to IMT.
Many have tried to pattern themselves after IMT. But there is a saying at IMT. "We Are, What They Want To Be." There is and will always be only ONE IMT. A Company built on Pride and Quality. A Company that believes in Total Customer Satisfaction. A Company that MANY have tried to duplicate. Now under the leadership of Kay Tan, IMT is now profitable and debt-free.
IMT CULTURE AND TRADITION During the twenty plus years of IMT's existence, the company has gone through many changes. From a small 3-man start-up in 1980 to over 275 employees spread out over three facilities in 1995, IMT has been able to maintain a unique style and culture over the years.
IMT now employs approximately 45 people. When Brad and Dave purchased the company back from Insync at the end of 1998, the team consisted of 9 long time employees. At the end of 2000, IMT had grown to 65 employees. Through all the ups and downs, IMT's "culture" for the most part, has stayed intact. What is "IMT Culture" you may ask?
When Jim Wyant started the company in 1980, he had very simple beliefs that he instilled in all his employees. Produce quality parts, take great pride in your work, and always remember that it is the CUSTOMERS who pay the bills. IMT's culture was born and evolved from these very simple principles.
When Byron Bertsch joined the company and partnered with Jim in 1984, Byron helped expand on those principles and helped nurture the young group of IMT's employees. Many employees "grew-up" at IMT. Dave Mortenson joined IMT at the tender age of 22. Now at age 41, Dave has spent almost half his life at IMT. Brad Wood teamed with IMT straight out of college in 1987 and was part of the "core" group that made IMT what it is today.
The "Core-Group" consists of 5 Electropolish personnel with over 15 years experience each at IMT with 3 others with 11, 8, and 5 years respectively. In manufacturing, IMT has 4 employees with 10 plus years and many with 5 to 8 years' experience with the company. With so many dedicated and loyal people that have grown up together, it is easy to develop a culture and tradition based on history, teamwork and a sense of family.
IMT has always promoted the team concept and family atmosphere. Letting employees, no matter what level or position, be involved in decision making and contributing their creative talents. Production personnel and management working together to implement new practices and procedures.
The dress code is very casual. In the 80's and early 90's, Jim & Byron ran their business in jeans and t-shirts. You won't find many slacks and ties if you visit IMT today either. The casual dress code philosophy helps promote a better working relationship with Management and Production. If the Management team needs to, it can roll up their sleeves and help out with Production. It's not uncommon to find the management team working along side production personnel on the floor.
In the spring and summer months, you may drop in on a BBQ or two. Thanksgiving and Christmas time usually means the exchange of gifts and potluck gatherings. On most days you will be able to participate in a little, lunchtime Volleyball game. The second Wednesday of each month is a longtime tradition, "Cake Day." This is where we celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries for the month and when we hold our monthly safety meetings.
IMT is so rich in history. The "old-timers" can spend hours, telling stories of the past and passing their traditions and experience onto the new IMT employees. Pride, loyalty, experience and dedication are all words that could describe IMT culture. A culture that's rich in teamwork and tradition. A Company built on family, and more importantly, a Company that understands who the CUSTOMER is.
